The Beautiful Deck!

Gordon has built a deck in our backyard that is so awesome that I just had to show everyone. I helped hold the surveying pole to make sure it was level and I tried to help drill in a screw, but I wasn't pressing hard enough and the drill stripped the top of the screw, Gordon made fun of me and laughed, so I told him he was on his own. He got a good laugh, so he was good with working by himself from then on.

Anyway, Gordon has great ideas and is super creative and this project again shows his "mad skills". He cemented in the metal poles that will hold the cover (when it's made), but he adapted our outside water faucet to bring water to the pole and he installed a drinking fountain for Jude and a sink for us when we're outside or BBQing. We wanted to put gold pans as the sinks, but they were not readily accessible, so Gordon got these bowls, adapted them to become sinks and they are usable now. I know, the shower head is kind of crazy, but we had an extra one, so that is what is on there for now. The other pole has been wired with electricity, so there will be a plug in on the side, and we can put lights under the canopy when it's done.

K. Falls Airshow!

This past weekend we went camping and to the Airshow with Dusty, Emily, McKenna and Brock. We had a great time, but I would recommend taking serious mosquito repellent if you go to Rocky Point! We opened the car doors and they attacked! Jude was showing me how well his noise cancelling headphones worked when the loud planes flew over.

This little picture is not the best, but it was awesome to see the fighter and the little prop plane fly in formation and do tricks and everything. They stayed right together. The other pic is of the smoke after the "wall of fire". The bombing and the wall of fire were Jude's favorite. I guess he is taking after his father and many pyro uncles. Boys are just fascinated by fire.

Some of you might remember about a month ago I wrote that I was going to try my hand at making a quilt...well it's done! I would have to say that quilting is very involved and I did enjoy putting all the pieces together, but I honestly really don't like the actual machine quilting part. Gordon's Grandma is awesome at quilting and inspired me to do this quilt, which began as a whole other pattern, but it was WAY too advanced for me, so I have all the pieces and I put this quilt top together with all the scraps left from the other top. I would have to say that the binding on this quilt it definitely the best I have ever done, thanks again to Grandma Pedersen! She taught me how to make my own binding and it works sooooo much better than store bought binding, plus she showed me the secret to cornering and it made all the difference. Anyway, I love the colors and Jude told me that he liked it to, but he would like me to make him one that's not pink, since "Mom, pink is for girls". Gordon even took a picture of me holding it, but he wouldn't tell me when he was going to take it , so this is the least goofy picture of me with my latest achievement!

Gordon and I took Jude to his first Rodeo on friday night. The pictures above are of the calf roping. Jude was intrigued at how the cowboys could throw their lassos and catch the calves. This was just the little "Pro Rodeo" of Central Point, but it was pretty good.

This picture was the one bull rider that fell and landed on the bull's horns. He hit him twice and then stepped on him. He walked away, but Jude was very concerned. (I'm glad I have a soft hearted child!) This event was actually the whole reason that we went to the Rodeo. Jude loves to watch bull riding on TV and often asks to watch it before he goes to bed. Usually he falls asleep in the first 15 minutes, it's pretty funny. But he made it through the whole 2 1/2 hour show. He must know my mom's roots, because he was very impressed with the barrell racing. He liked how fast they rode and he liked how the horses kicked up so much dirt. Gordon told him he could ride his four wheeler around barrells and he was a little interested, but not raring to go.

Here is a little slideshow of the newest George Family Member. The daughter of Torrance and Emily George. Haylee was born today, May 27th at 4:55pm, and she weighed in at 6lbs 10 oz and she's 19 inches long. She was really alert and was not happy when we uncovered her feet to check them out. She definitely has her Dad's long fingers and toes. Torr has huge hands and super long fingers and Haylee's feet are as long as his pointer finger. She curled her hands right around his finger when we tried to get a picture. Emily looked great and was a trooper. Congratulations to the new parents!

This cover was definitely needed after all the rain that accompanied us on our camping trip this weekend! But we had a good time. We took the boat and my trailer and all my family was there with the exception of Ricky. Dusty was the only fishermen that caught anything, it's a good thing that we hadn't planned on eating what we caught, we would have all gone hungry!
